Rev. Francisco Fernández Carvajal was a Spanish Catholic priest of the Prelature of Opus Dei. He was a graduate in history from the University of Navarra, and held a doctorate in Canon law from the Angelicum in Rome. Ordained a priest in 1964, he ministered especially to university students. From the early 1980s to the mid-1990s, he was Editor of the magazine Revista Palabra. He is best known for his seven-volume devotional, In Conversation with God–a collection of over 500 meditations to guide reflection and prayer throughout the liturgical year. It has sold over 2 million copies and has been translated into many languages. Fernández Carvajal died in Madrid, Spain, on March 6, 2026, at the age of 88.
