Rev. James (Jim/Jaime) Socias, a priest of the Prelature of Opus Dei, was born in Barcelona, Spain. He received a doctorate in naval engineering from the University of Madrid. After working as an engineer for thirteen years, he was ordained a priest in Spain in 1978 and obtained his doctorate in canon law from the University of Navarra. In 1994, he cofounded Midwest Theological Forum and launched The Rome Experience in 2009. In 2006, he founded the St. Josemaria Institute. Socias is the author and editor of several books including Marriage is Love Forever, Handbook of Prayers, and Daily Roman Missal. Since retiring from publishing, he has been dedicated to pastoral work, ministry, and spiritual direction in Spain.
