The Pilgrim Handbook is an essential guide for making a pilgrimage and praying at the holy sites. The handbook features historical information, Gospel readings, spiritual meditations, reflection questions, prayers, and photographs for the main holy sites to help you have a profound encounter with Christ before, during, and after the pilgrimage.

As you visit each holy site, the handbook will assist in preparing you for the graces of your pilgrimage:

A remembrance of the landmarks: What did you see? What happened in this place? What physical details will you remember? What will you tell your family and friends about this place?

Inspirations and Intentions: What did you hear and learn that inspired you? Whom and what did you pray for?

Resolutions: What is God asking of you? From what you learned in this sacred place, draw conclusions that will help you in your spiritual life.

At the end of your pilgrimage, the handbook will be a keepsake of your memories of the profound personal experience of meeting Jesus Christ in the same places where his first disciples did over 2000 years ago. And, your pilgrimage will become an unforgettable journey that will help to deepen and nourish your relationship with God for the rest of your life.

The St. Josemaria Institute is pleased to announce the book release of Wanting Jesus Alone to Shine: Illustrated Biography of St. Josemaria Escriva, the Founder of Opus Dei.

Wanting Jesus Alone to Shine is a biography of St. Josemaria Escriva, the founder of Opus Dei, illustrated with more than 200 photos, maps, infographics and autograph texts. The authors, Jesús Gil and Enrique Muñiz, offer a biography in which the images allow readers to enter into the life of Saint Josemaria: not only to learn about his experiences intellectually, but also to share in some of the feelings that accompanied these experiences.

Wanting Jesus Alone to Shine is based on the book written by Jose Miguel Cejas and designed by Jose Luis Saura on the occasion of the beatification of Josemaria Escriva in 1992. Gil and Muñiz – who collaborated in the beatification book – have revised and updated the text, and have added numerous content, so that it is presented as a new experience of the life of St. Josemaria.

About the Authors

Jesús Gil (Logroño, 1976) is a priest of the Opus Dei prelature and a doctor in Spiritual Theology. Previously, he studied Advertising and Public Relations at the University of Navarra and worked as a journalist for Diario de Burgos and La Voz de Galicia. He has also published In the Footprints of Our Faith: A Journey Through the Holy Land.

Enrique Muñiz (Madrid, 1962) has a degree in Hispanic Philology from Complutense, works at the Beta Films Foundation and has been dedicated to linguistic consulting and corporate communication tasks for more than thirty years.

Life of Jesus reflects on Jesus Christ not as a myth or an abstract idea but as God-made man, who lived in first-century Palestine in a specific religious and social context. The details of his earthly life, the Jewish culture in which he grew up, the places he visited, and the roads he traveled for a little over thirty years can today be indicated with greater precision. The Evangelists placed great emphasis on narrating the events and words of Our Lord accurately, and these help the reader to better understand and love the figure of Jesus Christ as we travel with him.

Life of Jesus will take you on a pilgrimage in the footsteps of Jesus Christ as an onlooker, as if you were there in the Holy Land. Though a historical figure, Jesus surpasses history. He is the long-awaited Messiah, the Son of God. Thus, we cannot approach Jesus of Nazareth in the same way we would any other great figure of the past. The Person of Christ unfolds page-by-page in this book, pointing the way for each of us through his words, actions, Passion, Death, and the importance of his message for human existence. The language, archaeological findings, institutions, and customs explained in this book help us to better understand the life and times of Jesus Christ. Over forty maps and charts assist the reader in placing him- or herself in the synagogues, towns, homes, fishing villages, rivers, seas, and much of the Holy Land as it appeared two millennia ago.

This book is ideal for a classroom supplement, retreats, spiritual reading, and private meditation.
